Been a little quiet over the past month-plus. Mostly, because classes have started up again. While I’m still trying to get used to my very deep schedule on Tuesdays and Thursdays – and then play catch-up on Mondays, Wednesdays, and part of Fridays…I’m still writing daily in my journal. That’s a habit I’m glad that I started. Sometimes, I’m a little down about things that are happening around me. The political cycle here in the States is uninspiring. The economic cycle continues to make its massive correction. But Nature continues along – and even starts to reclaim areas that were burned out last year – and even last month. I’m always awed by the way Nature goes about her business. An area gets burned out from a careless action of a human being, or a lightning strike, or what have you — and She immediately continues to step forward and reclaim those areas. After a few weeks, the grass begins to regrow – the affected trees begin to come back to life. I am completely in awe of this entire process.
I hear lot of doom and gloom from folks over the direction that everything is undergoing in the world around us. I understand all that hand-wringing. People want Life set on the same course that it was previously. The only problem with that, is that Life is always changing. Things will never be the same. No matter how much I want to go back to a fuller head of hair – that’s not going to happen. I’m not overly thrilled with the prospect of balding – but it is happening. We can’t go backwards in time and freeze Life in a single spot. It just doesn’t happen that way. Everything changes, everything evolves, everything grows, everything eventually dies, everything is eventually reborn in one way or another. Yes, this is me stating out loud that I believe in the reincarnation process. For me, that final step beyond the veil – what precisely it holds, none of us will know until that moment. But I digress (as I usually am prone to do).
With the end of 2012 coming around the bend – with the advent of a particularly disgusting and rather ugly Presidential cycle about to change our world on several levels — there is no “doom and gloom” scenario for me. I don’t see right-wingers putting old hippies like me in a cage or lining us up against the wall to be shot. That’s pure fantasy — and I’m sure someone out there is envisioning how satisfying it would be to line me up against the wall. But the reality of it all is that’s not going to happen. The world isn’t going to fall apart either…we won’t see cycle after cycle of natural “disasters” as the Earth shakes humans off like a dog shaking off fleas. It was a decent movie (though they could have cast someone with a lot more talent than John Cusak for the primary role, IMO) – but its fiction with no basis in reality whatsoever.
Whatever happens will happen. Life runs in cycles. We have trouble recognizing that because each cycle is slightly different than the previous incarnation. Otherwise, we’d live through the Beaver-Cleaver family of the 1950s, the hippies of the 1960s, disco of the 1970s, and the trendy pop world of the 1980s over and over. Everything changes. Everything will continue to change. That’s a part of Life. Eventually, our current incarnation will wear down and cease to function properly. That’s where we cross the veil. How much of what is beyond the veil is similar to our current incarnations? You got me. if I can figure out a way to let you all know after I cross over — I’ll do my best to let you know.
