Hi folks. Thought maybe we could talk about some occult stuff for a change. Specifically, just being a Pagan. Kinda wide ranging topic, but one I have a lot of experience in. 🙂
First thing that people think of when you say you are a Pagan, is that your just plain flaky. But nothing could be further from the truth. Your just as sane as anyone walking around on this Earth who worships (or does not) any other way. Not only that, but you are just as plain and normal as any one else. The only difference between you and other folk tends to be in what you believe, that’s all. Nothing outrageous. Nothing crazy. You just believe differently than other folks do. That’s it.
Secondly, many Pagans go to various festivals or gatherings to be around other Pagans. Why? Well, its the same reason that Baptists, Catholics, Protestants, and others go to church every Wednesday and Sunday. To be around people of similar beliefs. Nothing that complicated in those type of settings, right. Right. Its just being around people that are similar to you in belief. Nothing strange about that either.
Third….well, there’s not a lot of difference between why Pagans gather together and Christians gather together. They are just people wanting to get closer to people that think the same way. Nothing really strange about that, is there? Its really the same as when Pagans and Christians gather together when the Super Bowl is played or a baseball event or even a picnic. People gather together because they share a common love for something. Pagan events do not have to have the same people as football watching parties. Its just that simple.
Now there are people that would create separation between Pagans and Christians. And to be honest, its not just Christians. There are people out there that would setup these differences as major obstacles between people. Bully for them. I’m not in that crowd. I’m in a crowd that is more inclusive than that. Where Christians and Pagans and Muslims and Hindus and everyone else can get together. Its really that simple. Yet, I understand the need to be exclusive as well. You just don’t have to do it all the time. Or even most of the time. Because we’re all people…trying to live our best lives among that hodge-podge of humanity.
